You don't need as much strength as understanding to let go of someone. Understanding that things will fall into place eventually, understanding that you'll eventually meet the one who makes you happy, and that this too, shall pass.
Sometimes we can fall in love with someone for all the wrong reasons, and still love them even after all the heartache because most of the time, we can't pick who we love. And even though we know we shouldn't love them, we do and always will, because there are just some people in our lives who will get to us for reasons we can't explain, even when they shouldn't.
“Oh yeah… love. Once upon a time, it was simple. If you liked somebody, you let them know. And if you didn’t, you let them know. One way or another, you knew where you stood. But as you get older, communication gets more complicated.”—The Wonder Years
You start out life with a clean slate. Then you begin to make your mark. You face decisions, make choices. You keep moving forward. But sooner or later, there comes a time when you look back at where you have been and wonder who you really are.
“The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides.”—Audrey Hepburn
Often we find ourselves moving on, but wanting to go backwards in time. We find comfort in what we've done in the past, and although we're enjoying the present, we can't stop thinking about how amazing the past was and how much we'd give to be able to go back. We want to make the best of now, but we just can't seem to let go of the past. I guess looking back on the past is okay, but we should never live in the past. Always make the best of today, because someday, today will become part of your past too.
You win some, you lose some. Things don't always work out the way they are supposed to. I guess if its meant to be, things will always find a way. And even if it doesn't, you will always have my heart.
“When a guy cheats on you once, he will do it again. If he gives you butterflies, remember that when he was your boyfriend, he was kissing somebody else. The sooner you set the bar for what is acceptable, the better off you’ll be. We’ve all fallen for someone who’s not great for us, but when the alarm bell starts ringing, you have to listen.”—One Tree Hill
“Albert Camus once wrote, “Blessed are the hearts that can bend. They shall never be broken.” But I wonder… If there’s no breaking, then there’s no healing. And if there’s no healing, then there is no learning. And if there’s no learning, then there’s no struggle. But the struggle is a part of life. So must all hearts be broken?”—One Tree Hill
People say that many things in life never last. But the truth is, you never lose these things till you let them. Life is about making choices; hanging on, holding back, and letting go. Things do last, but only if you and the people involved make the choice to make it so.
Loss is a huge part of life and we don't really know how much we care for someone until we realise that they may be gone one day, and when they do, we feel as though we lost everything as they walked away. We feel like we'll never really care about anything again, but we do and we discover that loss was a gift that helped us appreciate all of the things that we still have.
“I want people to feel an immediate happiness and cheerfulness when they are around me and to make a difference in someone’s life. I want to make an impression in someone’s life, so that even though I may be delicate and fragile, my footprints are permanent within the hearts of the ones I’ve touched.”—
